giant dog and baby bunnies

We named the dog after a gun. It seemed to make sense for a German Shepherd. We were worn down to willingness after four years of a child begging for this type of dog. And he is a lot nuts/ protective. BUT the other morning he rescued a drowning baby bunny from our pool. The bunny died and two others lived. We kept them in a box on top of a heating pad in the powder room until the expert bunny lady Kate came to get them. I started to cry today. Again. And he STILL goes to the door ready to tear this sadness to pieces if it happens to show up in some human or animal form. I keep thinking how great dogs do with hard stuff. Leap in and save a little life. Sit by me when I'm not crying but the person on the other end of the line is and he can HEAR her and it doesn't matter it's one a.m. He is going to be there for that person. Since the bunnies he's not eating well and sat by the empty flower pot today where we found the bunnies. I went out in the rain just to check. No bunnies, so told him to come inside. Giant dog saving baby bunnies.

This is the front entry of Allgates. I want to sketch it , love to think of all the joy that has walked in and out that door thanks to my mom and dad and their love.
