Creative Practice

It's been three years since my youngest started kindergarten and it's just recently that there is some sort of creative practice in my day . Most days what that means is that after the kids are off to school I drink my tea tidy up a little then practice yoga or meditate for about an hour ( depends on the day). Then my brain is usually settled enough to go to the studio to paint. My favorite quote " art is prayer" means ( on a good day) that I show up, pray, and get to work. I close my eyes and pick a pandora station at random which usually reminds me of someone I know, so the work ends up a prayer for whoever the music reminds me of, as well as the client whose piece I'm working on. Right now the client who's waiting for her piece has this long beautiful hair. It's the kind of blonde that my little girl used to call " white hair" , so neat since a little color and a lot of white mixed together makes that pale blonde- how kids know color when they are tiny! Working in mostly her requested blues and whites , but sneaking in shades of Nancy's blonde hair.
