Standing in tree pose and falling out and having to start over made me realize why I'm avoiding painting the faces I so want to paint. It's that I'd rather not have to fail. I'm wanting to master something I've never done before, without practice.
I read some article that called it "cheating" to use a grid to do faces. The result? Three months without painting! Time to start again, to practice, to remember that the joy in creating is such a gift. Time to set aside someone else's judgements, and get back to this new willingness to at least try. Time to risk failing falling down and starting again.
