Not much need to explain this is there? It's the donut between me and Missy's painting. And God. And Grace. And the pause button that painting is. And gratitude. Like Daddy going outside. Like the definition of God as " go out doors".
So if the left side of the body holds our creativity, what do those left sided aches and pains mean?
Is it creativity calling?
Talking years ago to a friend who is a writer and was so immersed in motherhood- when I asked if she was writing she said something about her writing being locked away in a closet and that no matter how she ignored it, it never stopped kicking and screaming to get out.
Creativity, some fierce fairy
Pounds relentlessly at a little secret door inside our hearts
To be let out
With her songs
Poems
Paintings
Plays
Dreaming of Taos lately
the colors
the road of artists
the way I just feel better there
the afternoon storms that come down from the mountains in summer
the clear dark night
The stars

This commission pushed me out of my comfort zone and what a gift it was. I got to learn some new painting skills and better yet had time with someone wise and kind and unique. The kind of pretty that when blended with real true depth is just magic.
Thought I'd share some pics of a collage piece in the ( slow!) making. This is day one of this piece, when I'm just scooping up bits of shredded or cut paper and arranging them on a blank canvas. Sometimes on day one I just lay papers down but today I took the extra step of using acrylic modeling paste to cement them to the canvas. The paper I use is 140 lb acid free watercolor paper. I use sheets of watercolor paper as palettes while working on commissions so I end up with leftover palettes that are perfect for collage. Currently I have lots of sea glass shades and Atlantic blues so this collage will probably refect that. It's fun too to just apply different combinations of acrylic paint and acrylic modeling paste to heavy stock paper then let it dry. You'll tend to use colors you like so when they dry you are left with painted sheets that are YOUR colors. Tear them up or cut them up. Arrange them on a canvas. See where you end up!
