standing in the rain

Got to spend an evening with Aimee at the beach and she asks the real questions about alopecia and she is ok with the real answers. When I wrote the next morning all I could think was that with Aimee it's like if I'm standing in the rain she'd just come and stand in the rain with me and not say anything. No rush to put an umbrella over the problem. A friend used to say " it is what it is" and that's what Aimee does. She lets stuff be what it is and sits it out with you. Such a rare gift.

Fragments

This collage piece has been making itself for a couple months now, out of the ends and edges of watercolor paper used for other projects. Her wings made me think of how the fragments of our lives, the times when we are torn apart, really can make something more beautiful in the end. Everyone I know with a really big worry in their life, the real kind, has so much wisdom to share . . .
