There is a quote "Art is Prayer" that I think of all the time. In creating a sketch or a watercolor I find myself lost in thoughts of the people I am painting. When I get to meet the kids I have painted there is a feeling that I know them so well. No matter how many hours a piece takes, every minute is spent with them, wishing them every blessing. I find myself overwhelmed by emotion, the gift of tracing the lines of a beautiful little person whose life is just beginning. Each piece is a prayer for the child I have painted. Staring at a photo, I see things, a little sister holding her big brothers finger instead of his hand , two brothers whose bond feels so strong, something about how they hold hands. It is such a gift there are no words for how grateful I am.
